There's no place like home...

We're moving to Kansas!  On January 11th, a list of possibilities for our next duty station was released.  Among the choices were Colorado (our first choice), Florida panhandle (been there, done that, not fixin' to do that again :) ), D.C., New Mexico, North Dakota, and a few more.  PLUS Fort Riley, Kansas.  Yes, Fort Riley is an Army Post, but apparently there is an Air Force squadron there too, who knew!?

While we were in KS for the funeral, we loved how amazing it was to be close to home.  AND with the 1st grandchild on BOTH sides due in August, we figured there was no other place on that list, other than Colorado, we wanted to go MORE than being closer to family.  So, we put Fort Riley 2nd on our list.  We figured we get CO or KS, since let's be honest, who in the Air Force would put Fort Riley anywhere near the top of their list unless they were in a position like us!?!?

Well, Friday we found out we got it!  We will be flying into KCI in late May and house hunting for a few weeks in Manhattan.  This will be fun since it's where I went to college and had my first teaching job!  Zach isn't quite so excited about all of the purple he's about to be bombarded with, but he'll deal!

A few things I can't wait for:
1.  Being so close to family and friends!
2.  Having black bean dip from So Long in my TOWN!!!
3.  Having 4 seasons, a HOT summer at least 3 months long!
4.  Pay at the pump gas- no they don't have that here.
5.  A garbage disposal- nope, they don't have those here either.

Wedding- Jamaica style

I was lucky enough to be able to go to Jamaica for my friend Kelsy's wedding!  The weather was gorgeous, the friends and family of the bride and groom were amazing, and the wedding couldn't have been more perfect!   So. Much. Fun.

Zach was unable to join me, but an unplanned trip found us both in Kansas the next week.  One of Zach's friends from childhood tragically lost his father after a routine surgery.  Zach and I both went back to Kansas as soon as we could.  It was so good to be home to visit with friends and family, even though the circumstances weren't ideal.

Exciting!

Hi everyone!  We are so excited to be starting this new blog.  And we have a very good reason to start it- we are adding to our family!  I am about 9 weeks along with our first baby, and we couldn't be happier.  The due date is August 11th, and we will be back in the U.S. by then, we just don't know where yet.  A list will come out this month, and we'll HOPEFULLY know where we're going in February.  We know it will definitely be in the U.S., but the rest is completely up in the air.

Yesterday we had our first ultrasound.  We were able to see the baby's feet kicking and we also got a good look at the umbilical cord.  Zach saw the fluttering heartbeat!

Ultrasound 1-4-12.  8 weeks 5 days.
